About the Artist
Michael Owen's work is found in galleries as well as on the streets. Visually, Owen's work uses bold, graphic imagery which pulls the viewer into the piece. While a majority of Owen's work uses figurative elements, it's heavy compositional design and and deep messages ring true of a more conceptual genre. Typically, less is more in Owens work as he employs minimalism to access a wider audience, allowing room for each viewer to insert their own story.

Highlandtown - Greektown Mural
Owen recently created one of the nation's longest murals, covering both sides of a quarter-mile underpass that serves as gateway between two of Baltimore's most colorful neighborhoods, Greektown and Highlandtown. The reception for "Maps and Memories" will also serve as the grand unveiling for this ambitious project. Owen is also the creator and lead artist behind the city-wide mural project, the Baltimore Love Project, which is working towards another Owen mural in Highlandtown.
