Harvey Kirstel: Irrational Realism

Harvey Kirstel: Irrational Realism
January 12 - January 30, 2009

Harvey Kirstel shows his fascination for the variety of form and color found in fishing lures and flies. In the paintings exhibited in "illogical realism" he develops his interest in traditional still life subjects by combining traditional forms with the newly discovered shapes and colors of fishing lures. Though there may be a the lack of a rational connection between the two the combination communicates a sense of the decorative and an effort to replicate “real life” with “still life” elements all wrapped in a bit of humor.
