Rande Barke: Encrypted Landscapes

"Lighthouse Residential", oil on canvas, 2007 - 2008
September 20 - October 25, 2008
Reception: Saturday, September 20, 6 – 8 PM
Rande Barke paints man-made structures obscured by painterly abstraction. Barke uses well-worn pictorial devices and then encrypts deliberately naïve realism with pointillist brushstrokes and polygonal constructions. Deft paint handling and smart compositions deliver caustic witticisms.
